Conversational English for Children in Sri Lanka

Shanuk launched this project in October, 2021. The objective of this initiative is to help kids in rural areas of Sri Lanka speak English in a more fluent and confident manner. Presently, he is teaching 12 kids aged 10 - 13 in rural areas of the Monaragala District in Sri Lanka, through Zoom. Visit the Get Involved page to see how you can help or  contact us at sweetsaplings2021@gmail.com for more details.

Mighty Meredith Project (MMP)

During the 2021 December holiday season, Shanuk and Nikelal partnered with the Mighty Meredith Project, a project where Meredith Casey conducts a toy drive for kids at the Pediatric Neurology department at Tuft's Children's Hospital. As a part of this initiative, Shanuk and Nikelal went door to door in their neighborhood collecting gifts from generous donors. In their first year, they collected close to 25 gifts.

Meth Sewa in Wellawaya,
Sri Lanka

In early 2022, Sweet Saplings Community founders and advisors partnered with the Meth Sewa Foundation to support people (including children) with intellectual and physical disabilities. Discussions are currently being held to understand the many needs of the Meth Sewa Foundation and its residents and plans will be put in place to help with some of the urgent needs.
